Located at 43-12 Hunter Street in Long Island City, Queens, formerly known as "The Cove" for its distinctive wedge shape, this building stands out in the cityscape because of its distinctive architecture.
"The Cove" follows the tradition of triangle-shaped buildings in New York City. Its angled angles and gray window panels give the building a unique appearance. With its 18 stories rising 228 feet into the expanding skyline of downtown Queens, it will house 123 rental apartments, as well as nearly 4,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor and in the basement.
The building is bounded by 43rd Avenue to the north, Hunter Street and a portion of 44th Road to the south, and Crescent Street to the northwest. The development also includes 4,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor that extends to the basement level. Residential amenities include a lounge, fitness center, and outdoor rooftop terrace. AZA, which participated in the supply for AZA INT, provided the design, engineering, and production of curtain wall units-both glazed and with composite panels-of which 456 provided opening windows and 9 terrace doors.
The exterior cladding is made of aluminum composite panels used as infill panels to give the facade a strong color scheme. This design distinguishes "The Cove" from the classic look of contemporary facades, giving it a unique identity in the city's architectural landscape.
