A new 11-story mixed-use building will soon rise in Manhattan's West Village, replacing a parking lot located at the corner of Jane Street and West Street, near the Hudson River bank. The project, named 134 Jane Street, was unveiled by Aurora Capital Associates, a New York-based real estate development firm, and designed by BKSK Architects, an architectural firm specializing in sustainable and innovative projects
The new building will have a height of 120 feet (about 36 meters) and a floor area of 105,804 square feet (about 9,830 square meters), of which 105,604 square feet (about 9,810 square meters) will be devoted to residential space and 200 square feet (about 19 square meters) to ground-floor commercial space.
The building's facades will feature a series of modular cells, of the "vision" type for ribbon and "spandrel" windows.
The alternation of glazing and panels will give the building a dynamic and variable appearance, changing according to time of day, season, and viewpoint. The facades will follow the curvilinear profile of the building, which will adapt to different heights and solar orientations, from six to two stories, and functionally connect with surrounding buildings. The facades will also open toward the central courtyard, which will form the green heart of the complex.
