The town of Breganze, in the province of Vicenza, is home to the new headquarters of the Italian fashion company Diesel, which has transformed a former mechanical industry plant into a striking architectural complex. The project, signed by the Ricatti architectural firm, has created an urban microcosm in which open spaces and built volumes alternate, blending harmoniously with the natural surroundings.
The complex consists of five buildings, each with a specific function: offices, warehouse and museum, auditorium, kindergarten, and technical and security facility. The buildings are connected by a north-south access road, which divides the site into two functional areas: warehouses and yards to the west, offices to the east. Two elevated walkways join the offices on the second and third levels, creating a bridge between the two sides of the complex.
Interior spaces are designed to ensure the well-being and functionality of working and service environments. Offices are organized on three levels, with flexibility allowing spaces to be adapted to different needs. The museum houses Diesel's historical and new collections, while the auditorium is a multifunctional venue that can host events, conferences and performances. The fitness center and restaurant are collective spaces that encourage socialization and relaxation. The kindergarten is a dedicated area for employees' children, providing a safe and stimulating environment. The data center and general services are strategically located to ensure the efficiency and safety of the complex.
The distinctive element of the project are the facades, which combine architectural transparency and energy conservation. The facades were created through a collaboration between Schüco and AZA, which provided innovative solutions for cladding and shading the buildings. The façades consist of glazing on Schüco structural supports, covered with Kme Tecu seamed horizontal copper slats, which create an effect of movement and light reflection. Copper is a unifying material, found in all the facades except those of the inner courtyards and kindergarten garden, where oak panels predominate. Copper also has the property of capturing and neutralizing pollutant molecules in the air, contributing to environmental purification.
The project paid special attention to the environmental and energy sustainability of the entire development, adopting state-of-the-art construction and technological solutions. The complex is equipped with efficient and energy-efficient systems that take advantage of renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaic panels on the roof. The complex has achieved LEED Gold certification, an international recognition that attests to its excellence in environmental performance.
The project was overseen by the Ricatti architectural firm, in close collaboration with the professional team of Jacobs Italia s.p.a., an engineering firm that managed the entire operation from the early design stages to completion. The project managed to combine Diesel's creative vision with functional and environmental needs, creating an urban and sustainable microcosm that fits harmoniously into the Breganze area.
