In the heart of Manhattan, where history and modernity come together in unique harmony, stands the 88th and 90th Lex Building, an architectural masterpiece that combines prewar splendor and modernist vision, giving residents the best of two eras. The Lex Penthouse, the jewel of this extraordinary work, is a model of adaptive urban reuse. Once home to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield buildings, these places have become residential spaces, retaining their historic charm and integrating into contemporary life.
In the elegant node of Manhattan's urban fabric, 88th and 90th Lex dominates the intersection of Gramercy, Flatiron and NoMad. Here, the neoclassical skyscraper harmonizes with a contemporary addition, expressing the dynamic spirit of this area famous for its historic and modern architecture. But this blend of styles and eras was not easy to achieve. The project required meticulous planning and complex logistics, limited by the small space on the site. The 88th and 90th Lex became a work of architectural art, a tribute to human ingenuity and creativity.
This building houses residences of luxury and comfort, the result of a transformation by the design studio Workshop/APD. With a loft style, high ceilings and panoramic windows, these residences provide a feeling of spaciousness and brightness in the heart of the metropolis. The highlight of this project is the custom curtain wall that surrounds the building on all four sides. This 430-square-meter structural glazed façade was conceived, designed and built to provide breathtaking, uninterrupted views. In addition, Wicline 65 and Wicline 160 Lift & Slide patio doors were expertly integrated to provide an unparalleled outdoor living experience.
The beating heart of this facade is the "casket" style projections, which give the building a distinctive and contemporary character. These projecting bow-window-like units add movement and vitality to the structure, creating a bold yet elegantly resolved architectural statement.
