PAGANINI AUDITORIUM
The Eridania Auditorium
An Architectural Icon in the Heart of Parma
In the heart of the city of Parma stands an architectural work that embodies elegance and functionality: the Eridania Auditorium. The brainchild of acclaimed architect Renzo Piano, this unique space was created through the renovation of the former industrial structures of the Eridania sugar refinery, giving new life to an icon of the city's industrial history.
An Aesthetic and Functional Excellence
The Eridania Auditorium is now a structure of great aesthetic and functional excellence, surrounded by the greenery of Eridania Park. With a capacity of 780 seats, this impressive music hall offers a unique setting for concerts, conferences and performances of all kinds. Attention to acoustics, lighting and aesthetics has made this auditorium one of the most renowned in the region, attracting artists and spectators from all over the world.
AZA's Contribution.
AZA played a key role in the construction of the Eridania Auditorium, contributing by creating the large double-height side windows and the impressive entrance façade. These structures, interspersed with horizontal bracing beams, not only give the building an impressive visual presence, but also serve as technical walkways for maintenance and window cleaning, thus ensuring easy and safe maintenance over time.
History and Innovation
The Eridania Auditorium is the result of a bold vision of the City of Parma, which acquired the former industrial area in 1980 with the intention of transforming it into a cultural and recreational hub for the city. The renovation of the original building, along with the demolition of the adjacent buildings, created a unique and versatile space that is perfectly integrated into the surrounding landscape.
Design and Technology
The main structure of the Eridania Auditorium is distinguished by its rectangular floor plan oriented along the north/south axis. The longitudinal walls have been restored and preserved, while the transverse walls have been replaced by full-height glazing, creating a bright and welcoming environment. Thanks to a series of acoustic measures, including an absorbent ceiling and cherry wood acoustic panels, the main hall functions as a large sound box, providing an unparalleled sound experience for spectators.
An Immersive Experience
Entrance to the Auditorium is through a large foyer arranged on two levels, leading to the main hall. The stage, located in front of the glass wall, offers a unique panoramic view of the surrounding nature, creating a perfect combination of natural and artificial space.
In conclusion, the Eridania Auditorium represents an architectural excellence in Parma's cultural landscape. With its fusion of history and innovation, design and technology, this unique space continues to inspire and enchant audiences of all ages and backgrounds, confirming its role as a true jewel of the city.
