The Cité de la Sécurité Sociale (CSS) represents one of the most ambitious and significant architectural projects in Luxembourg's urban landscape. Located in the Hollerich district, this extraordinary structure will be designed to house the main institutions and administrations in charge of social security management, including the National Pension Fund and the National Fund for Family Benefits.
With a total area of 52,300 square meters spread over 6 floors, the CSS will have a block design with large green areas and a large central square called Place de la Cité. The design of the spaces focuses on creating high quality environments and lighting, with an emphasis on eco-sustainability in order to achieve international BREEAM certification, a recognition of excellence in building sustainability.
A New Center for Social Security
The Cité de la Sécurité Sociale will be the new hub for all social security-related activities in Luxembourg. With its strategic location and capacity to accommodate up to 1,230 jobs, it will provide a collaborative and efficient environment for the various institutions involved.
A State-of-the-art Facility
The building will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies for energy management and rainwater harvesting, while ensuring comfort and sustainability. Its modern and functional architecture will be the result of close collaboration between various architectural and engineering firms, with the goal of creating a space that meets the needs of the present and the future.
A Project in Two Phases
The construction of the Cité de la Sécurité Sociale will take place in two phases: the first, completed in 2024, will be followed by the construction of the second building, scheduled for fall 2024. This new building will house additional institutions related to social security, further expanding the importance and impact of the project.
A Successful Inauguration
The opening of the Cité de la Sécurité Sociale marks a historic moment for Luxembourg's social security system. Through its ability to respond to the changing needs of society, it represents a significant step forward in ensuring social protection for all of the country's insured.
