100 shawmut is the name of the project to transform a former warehouse located in Boston's South End neighborhood into a luxury condominium offering 138 residential units and public open space. The project, by The Davis Companies and designed by The Architectural Team, aims to create a building that combines historic rehabilitation with contemporary design and environmental sustainability.
100 shawmut consists of two main parts: the restoration and conversion of the existing warehouse, dating from 1898 and designed by architects McKim, Mead & White, and the addition of a seven-story glass and terracotta structure above the warehouse. The result is a 232,000-square-foot building that fits into the urban context, enhancing the original Italian Renaissance-style façade and creating a harmonious contrast between old and new.
100 shawmut is also a project that is characterized by its commitment to environmental, social and economic sustainability. The building is LEED Silver certified, a prestigious certification that attests to the building's ecological quality, based on criteria such as energy efficiency, water management, air quality, material selection and design innovation.
