This new complex, designed by top Texan practice HKS and built by general contractor Austin Commercial, acts as an interface between Dallas’s financial center and its renowned Art District. The resulting complex consists of a multi-story car park – designed to serve an adjacent 50-floor tower and subject to refurbishment. The materials characterize the geometry of the whole, creating an elegant interplay between the textures chosen to define the buildings’ skins, its dimensions, scale relations and – most important of all – how light is refracted. To HKS’s design, AZA Group was commissioned to build a 6,500 m² custom façade to characterize the external surface.
